The calibre printed on the airgun and its manual is the first requirement. Pellet shape and length also matter, particularly in magazines and rotary clips. Never assume that every pellet in the correct calibre will fit every loading system.
| Pellet characteristic | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Calibre | Must match the exact calibre marked on the airgun, including 4.5 mm, 5.5 mm or 6.35 mm where specified. |
| Head shape | Wadcutter, domed, pointed and specialist designs serve different target and handling preferences. |
| Weight | Changes how a particular airgun behaves; test only suitable manufacturer-approved options. |
| Length and skirt | Can determine whether a pellet fits a magazine or rotary clip. |
Current examples include Gamo Pro-Hunter 4.5 mm pellets and Gamo Lethal 4.5 mm pellets.
