Break-Barrel vs IGT vs PCP Air Rifles

“Break-barrel”, “IGT” and “PCP” describe related but different parts of an air rifle’s operation. Break-barrel describes a cocking and loading format. A break-barrel rifle may use a conventional spring or a compatible Gamo IGT gas ram. PCP rifles use a pre-charged air reservoir.

What a multi-shot label means

A multi-shot or magazine-fed system changes pellet loading, but it does not necessarily remove the cocking cycle. Check the exact product instructions and compatible pellet dimensions.

Which system requires the least equipment?

A conventional spring or IGT break-barrel generally does not require PCP filling equipment. A scope, pellets, maintenance items and safe target setup remain separate considerations.
