Gamo GX-40 PCP 4.5mm Air Rifle
R11,999Gamo’s last generation PCP system provides a smooth, powerful and accurate shooting due to its sophisticated compression system.
While Gamo was a bit slow to introduce PCP air rifles to their range, they have now over the last year or two brought out a couple of excellent PCP’s.
PCP (Pre-Charged Pneumatic) air rifles have a long built-in and reinforced steel cylinder which you fill with highly compressed air and allows for many shots between refills. Depending on the particular airgun, you can expect to get well over 40 – 50 shots per fill before noticing a drop in pressure and accuracy. Compared to break-barrel air rifles you do not have to resettle your gun and get back into position between shots, which makes for more accurate shooting and consistency.
Filling the PCP air cylinder is done by way of a purposely designed manual pump which requires a significant amount of effort to pump till full capacity. Alternatives to the manual pump is a converted dive cylinder or similar from which you can quickly and easily top up the air rifle. This method makes filling up the PCP rifle a breeze and comes highly recommend.
To shoot with a PCP air rifle is an absolute pleasure. Once you have shot a PCP rifle, you will not want to go back.
With a break-barrel springer or even the IGT rifles (less so), there is quite a recoil when firing. They are also quite loud. A PCP airgun, on the other hand, has minimal recoil as apart from the release of the compressed air there are no moving springs or pistons. They are also much quieter.
You typically fill PCP rifles to a minimum of 200bar, depending on the PCP of course, which is very high pressure making PCP air rifle very high-powered. It is possible to adjust the power level up or down as desired. There is a very high level of consistency between shots which makes for very accurate shooting.
PCP air rifles offer power and accuracy as never seen before.
